Fairy Cool Cars

Pom’s obsession with cars had begun to affect her personal life. Whilst only her best friend Beatrice knew the truth, her community was beginning to question where she went off to every day.

Pom couldn’t tell them that she flew over to every automotive workshop she could find. They would frown upon hearing that she loved crawling into the car engines. Inspecting each component for damage and finally comparing her notes with the mechanic’s car diagnosis as a makeshift quiz.

It was not a hobby that a fairy should enjoy. Despite the chance of getting caught, Pom couldn’t help but find the nearest mechanic to Moorabbin that day. She had heard that a car was coming in that had caught her particular interest.

She was fascinated with older cars and identifying uncommon problems with engines. The car that the customer had brought in ticked off neither of those items. Still, Pom’s heart filled with excitement as she squeezed into the car cabin’s air conditioning vent.

Pom was excited to finally learn how to tell if a car air con regas is needed. It was a gap in her knowledge that could only be fun due to her spiralling fascination. The fact that these cars had so many moving parts, that needed specific maintenance and repair services, was interesting.

Compared to the flower garlands and grass blade huts she was used to at home, it often felt almost magical. Pom had what humans considered ‘magic’, but to her, it felt boring. These inventions were the real magic.

When she finally understood how it all worked, she was going to try to make her own miniature version of a car. That would prove to everyone how useful humans, and their inventions, could be.

This was also a fact that Beatrice would not be privy to. She knew her friend well enough to know that she would freak out if she found out. It would be better left as a surprise. That way, no one could stop her from her dream.
