I am obsessed with getting inked. Not only does it relax me, but it also energises me. That in itself may sound like a huge contradiction, but other tattoo fanatics out there will know exactly what I mean. It’s very hard to describe. The overall experience of getting tattooed is relaxing. You lay on a comfy seat, you have a chat, and you can totally zone out whenever you want. Then there’s the adrenaline rush which comes from the pain. I don’t entirely hate the pain. It can be uncomfortable, but there’s something rewarding about it. Sitting there and experiencing that pain while seeing this piece of art be permanently inked on my skin is an amazing experience.

I have had to get the odd cover up tattoo every now and then. To put a long story short, let’s just say there’s a few tattoos I have gotten over the years which were probably more the product of impulse as opposed to a genuine want. I mean, if I had a time machine and could go back to the day I got certain tattoos, I’d most likely tell myself to not get them. That’s all part of life isn’t it though? We live a life full of experiences and no regrets. My biggest regret is probably getting so many tattoos when I was so young. While I love most of the tattoos I have, there’s barely any room on my body if I want to get new ink.

Next week I will be visiting the best tattoo shop near me. Brisbane may be the home of tattoos, but I only want to be inked by the best. Since I have very little space left on my body, I want these next tattoos to be state of the art. I’m not entirely sure what I want this next piece to be, but I have a few ideas. Sometimes I really like chatting with the artist and giving them the opportunity to get creative. I’m excited, but also mourning the lack of space on my body. I’m running out of canvas!
